Jaloda 10-11-25 – CATALOG LINK

Welcome to the Jaloda Farm Dispersal Sale
Our family purchased this farm in 1916, and we have milked cows every day since then. Our first
registered cattle were purchased in 1935. In 1965, a tornado destroyed most of our buildings and we
lost many cattle. It became an opportunity to build new facilities, adding a milking parlor.
One of the cows purchased at this time was carrying a calf that became our first excellent cow,
eventually scoring EX-93.

We started classifying in 1966. Our first BAA was 99.9 with around 30 cows. We have
classified every year since then. Our current BAA is 108 with our 120 cow herd.

Our goals in breeding program have been focused on high udder composite bulls with good
production and type. We also chose bulls high on the TPI list.

Jaloda Farm has earned the Purebred Breeder Registry for ten years and has won the
Progressive Genetics Herd Award every year since its conception 35 years ago.

We have free stall housing originally built in 1965 and a 10-stall parlor built in 2000. We are at a
point where our parlor and other equipment and facilities are wearing out and would need
significant repair and renovation. At the same time Jim and his son Dan are to the point of not
being able to do the work.

The family has shown their cattle at the Lorain County Fair for 80 years – every year since 1948. That
is something we hope to continue even without having a milking herd.

We would have to say we have loved our Holstein cattle and the dairy community we have been
a part of. We hate to see this come to an end. As we say goodbye to our cows, we wish all the new
owners much success.

Sincerely,
The Jim Sheffield Family

Ohio Holstein Memorabilia Auction

The Ohio Holstein Association recently put in new flooring at their state office, and with some reorganization in their storage room, some extra items need a new home. We are working with Cowbuyer.com to offer the Ohio Holstein Memorabilia Auction, with all proceeds to go to OHA for use in breeder programs.

We know there are those out there who like to collect or have interest in older breed items, both from Ohio and from a national stage, and we hope this reaches you!

There are a few volumes of the Type and Production Year Books and Herd Book records that are extras in our assemblage. Many of the volumes and catalogs offered are from the well-kept collection of Mr. I.M Cavanagh, given to the OHA by his family. There are several older sale catalogs as well, some have handwritten notes from Mr. Cavanagh, but most are clean copies. A large accumulation of past Holstein World issues are available, as well as some Ohio State Show catalogs.

The sale is on Cowbuyer.com and will close beginning at
7:00 p.m. eastern on March 4, 2025.

Terms and instructions can be found on the sale site or in this pdf. Terms of OHA Memorabilia Sale
