Ohio DJM Applications – Due before February 16

A new contest will be added to this year’s Ohio Holstein Convention and Annual meeting for Junior Members!

The Ohio Distinguished Junior Member (DJM) contest is open to any youth who is an Ohio Junior Holstein Association member in good standing. One winner will be selected to receive recognition, a personalized award, and a monetary prize.

Applications and recommendation letters must be submitted via email to oholstein@sssnet.com by February 16th. This means the latest you can submit your materials is 11:59 PM EST on February 16th.

Interviews will be conducted at the Annual Meeting, and winners will be announced at the Annual Meeting Luncheon. Applicants will be contacted prior to the Annual Meeting to set up an interview time.

The Ohio Dairy Producers Association invites you to their annual meeting on Tuesday, February 11 in Wooster at the Shisler Conference Center. Registration begins at 9:30, with the meeting to follow. Attendance is free and open to all dairy farmers. Enjoy lunch provided by our sponsors and learn how ODPA is helping to navigate the future of dairy on your behalf.

Join us as we examine the current state of the industry, evaluate the evolving needs of Ohio’s dairy farms, and critically assess state and federal policies that impact dairy. Together, we will explore statewide strategies and industry initiatives needed to shape a prosperous future.

Guest speaker Gregg Doud, President and CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation, will share insights into the new Trump administration and the importance of proactively engaging with key federal staff and elected leadership in this new political climate.

Other presentations include:

  • An update from Ohio State on its new dairy facility, staffing, and key research projects
  • An update from the FO33 Market Administrator regarding the federal milk marketing order modernization and what to expect in 2025

Wednesday is the Ohio Dairy Quality Conference.

Ohio Holstein Convention & Annual Meeting

The Ohio Holstein Association, Inc. would like to invite you to the 104th Convention and Annual Meeting on March 7-8, 2025 in Wooster, Ohio. Hosted by District 7, Friday will consist of a full day of self guided farm tours and will meet at the Ice Plant at Minglewood Distilling Co that evening for an evening of fellowship and the virtual Convention Sale.

There will also be planned Junior Holstein activies during this time!

Saturday, March 8 will have the Ohio Holstein Woman’s annual meeting, interviews for Outstanding Junior and the Ohio Holstein Queen, and the Ohio Junior and Ohio Holstein Association Annual Meetings. A great meal with awards and a fun auction supporting the Ohio Women’s funding to scholarships, fixing up the office and other ventures.

The convention hotel will be Best Western, 243 East Liberty Street, Wooster, OH, 330-264-7750, with reservations need to be made by February 3, 2025. There is a block reserved for Ohio Holstein. Rooms are $115.99 / night plus tax and a free breakfast is included. A well stocked dairy bar will also be available.

If you have an animal that could possibly be an All-Ohio / Junior All-Ohio or Reserve All-Ohio  / Junior All-Ohio winner, please send the photos to Diana Miley at the Ohio Holstein Office. 

Deadline for photos is DECEMBER 13, 2024
