DESCRIPTION:Wil-San Registered Holsteins owned by Bill and Sandy Besancon\, welcomes Ohio Holstein Convention attendees on March 7th as part of the convention farm tours. \nFarm Address: 5693 Back Orrville Road\, Wooster\, OH \nThe farm was acquired in 1868 by C.Z. Yoder\, who purchased 102 acres\, which constitutes the current farm. In 1895\, the director of the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station encouraged him to construct one of the first greenhouses in Ohio for the production of leaf lettuce and fruits. DESCRIPTION:Scholarship Opportunities\nFull applications and instructions can be found at www.ohioholstein.com on the Junior page. – DUE FEBRUARY 14\, 2025\nAll Applications Due to the Ohio Holstein Office (PO Box 479\, Wooster\, OH 44691) and must be received via email or postmarked by February 14\, 2025 \nEsther Welch Ag Communications Scholarship\nThe Esther Welch Ag Communications Scholarship is intended to recognize an Ohio Junior Holstein Association or Ohio Holstein Association member who exemplifies exceptional leadership\, participation\, communication skills and dedication in the Holstein and dairy industries.\n\nTo be eligible\, the applicant must be an Ohio Junior Holstein Association or Ohio Holstein Association member in good standing and a senior in high school or older and planning to pursue a communications degree with an agricultural emphasis.\n\nThe winner will receive $500 after the completion of their first (or next) college semester.\n\nOhio Memorial Award\nThe Ohio Memorial Award recognizes an Ohio Junior Holstein Member who exemplifies exceptional leadership\, participation and dedication in the Holstein and dairy industries. The winner receives $500.\n\nTo be eligible\, a youth must be an Ohio Junior Holstein Association member in good standing and a freshman in high school or older (not over the age of 21 as of January 1 of the application year) and has not received the Ohio Memorial Award previously.\n\nOhio Holstein Women Scholarship\nThe Ohio Holstein Women Scholarship is dedicated to the encouragement of deserving and qualified persons with a high school degree and with a dairy background to obtain an Associates\, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree\, or to start-up and continue in the dairy business.\n\nApplicants shall be high school graduates and may be up to 25 years of age. They must come from a Holstein dairy background\, active in dairy products\, 4-H\, FFA and/or work on a dairy farm. To be eligible\, the applicant must be an Ohio Junior Holstein Association or Ohio Holstein Association member in good standing. They should be second semester freshman or beyond and maintain at least a 2.25 cumulative grade point average and be in good standing with a university or mentoring representative.
